1. How often do you update your site?

I update Jeff Gaulin's Journalism Job Board daily.

2. Does it cost to post a job?

It costs $75 plus GST to post a single job online for up to two months (basic service) or $200 plus GST to post a single "featured job" online for two weeks.

3 I've just applied for a job that was closed. How often do you remove jobs?

If the employer has not already set a deadline for a job, then it remains online for two months from the date posted. This gives the employer more time to accept applications without changing a deadline. However, deadlines -- whether they are stated or not -- are always subject to the employer's discretion and can close sooner than you expect, especially when there is a large number of applicants.

If you want to be safe, print out the job posting information and apply early.

4. Do you have an archive of old job postings?

Yes, I now keep an archive of all job postings. E-mail me a request and I'll send you the information.

5. Do you have a list-serv that I can subscribe to?

No, I do not have a list-serv. However, the most recent jobs on my site are listed on the Home page for quick access.

6. Do I have to register to see the jobs or use the directory?

There is no fee to browse the jobs or the journalists -- and no registration is required.

7. Where do I send my applications?

Send your application to the contact information provided in the job posting. Do NOT send your application to me.

8. Can you collect the applications for me and send me a short list?

For an additional consulting fee I would be willing to wade through your applications and present you with a short list of candidates. Ultimately, the final selection will have to be yours. E-mail me a request at the time you post your job to negotiate the fee.

9. Do you have jobs in non-journalism fields -- such as public affairs, investor relations or technical writing?

Jeff Gaulin's Journalism Job Board includes any jobs that make good use of a journalist's skills, even if those jobs are not in the news media. For example, you can find jobs in public relations, administration and sales. While such jobs are not directly journalism jobs, they are in the media industry and often call upon individuals with the training, experience and talent of a journalist and therefore provide another career opportunity to consider.

10. Can you give me career advice?

I can provide some basic advice to simple questions. We can negotiate a fee if you have a more complicated situation to resolve.
