Deadline: May 11, 2017
Salary:

Description

S&P Global Ratings is looking for an experienced editor to work on a freelance basis in its Toronto office, located in the Exchange Tower. Although we can’t promise how long the assignment will last, we’re hopeful that it will be for several months.

The person in this position will work alongside three others in Toronto, plus immediate team members in New York, Denver, and San Francisco, and will be part of a global department of 100 editors. You will edit and post to RatingsDirect (our proprietary, subscription-based website) articles authored by S&P Global Ratings credit analysts. In doing so, you will work closely with analysts and with other editors to ensure that S&P Global Ratings delivers timely, accurate, well-written information to investors.

We are looking to you to edit all types of articles (news, research, commentary), error-free, under deadline pressure. You must be able to write excellent headlines and subheads. Our editors also read behind other editors to help them do the same. To do this for us, you will need to be comfortable with financial and economic content.

Our culture is very much one of team work. Editors are members of the editorial team, but are also partners with analytical teams. Interpersonal skills are very important in our organization.

Qualifications

-- Bachelors’ degree, preferably in English, Journalism, or Business. -- At least two years’ editing and/or writing (or comparable) experience for a business or financial publication. -- Excellent time management skills. -- Demonstrated ability to work in a detail-oriented, deadline environment. -- Experience working on Web or electronic products preferred. -- Excellent oral and written communications skills. -- Demonstrated ability to work within and contribute to a cross-discipline team. -- PC literate with working knowledge of standard software, especially Word and Excel.
