Being an editor for a national food industry publication had its perks.
Gail Powell, former associate editor for Food In Canada magazine, ate her way through a Ben & Jerry's ice cream plant, ripped up a Kentucky warehouse on a brand new fork truck and admittedly enjoys a hearty helping of haggis and neeps now and then.
In between Italian wine tastings, stuffing her face at media events and being squeezed by the Pillsbury Dough Boy himself, Powell has managed to write, edit and/or proofread such titles as Canadian Grocer, Marketing Magazine, M&IT, Baker´s Journal, Canadian Metalworking and Plant: Canada´s Industry Newspaper.
She really knows how to work a room, says Sandra Eagle former director of content for Meetings and Incentive Travel magazine.
Powell has perfected sitting comfortably through uncomfortable silences, draws communication tools from her Early Childhood Education stint and survived a five-day Spa trip to Scotland sans luggage.
Her past lives include: copy writer, photographer, celebrity judge for Mott´s Clamato´s Best Caesar contest and peer panel participant for the Kenneth R. Wilson awards.
She´s found her voice and she knows how to use it. |
