Strategy is looking for an experienced magazine editor and writer for a full-time position in downtown Toronto. The Associate Editor will primarily work on the magazine and will assist the editor in planning and producing seven annual print issues. They will also be responsible for managing copy flow, while ensuring accuracy and quality of content. As a member of the editorial team, they will pitch and write features for the magazine, covering news that is of interest to marketers and agency execs, specifically. In addition, they will also copy edit and fact check stories, as well as act as a liaison with the art director for strategy’s print issues.
Five-plus years of writing/copyediting experience
Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to develop and carry out long-range time management plans
Experience and comfort with establishing and maintaining key editorial relationships with executive-level contacts
Demonstrated ability to independently generate story ideas, research, write and proof
A team player attitude and a high degree of comfort with working on a small editorial team
University degree or college diploma in journalism or a related field
A background in business journalism is preferred
Knowledge of the marketing/advertising and media industries are considered assets
