Alberta Correspondent REF#: JG29094
National Post
Location: Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta
Posted: March 21, 2018
Deadline: April 20, 2018

From its founding in 1998, the National Post has made a place for itself in a crowded media landscape by being different. Online and in print, we deliver hard news, context and analysis and great storytelling; instead of commodity news and an institutional approach to coverage, we go deep on the things Canadians find interesting.

The National Post is hiring an Alberta correspondent to cover the province for a national audience.

This position is to be located in either Calgary or Edmonton.

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of Alberta and the West. They know its politics, its culture, its character and its characters, and they are equally comfortable covering a provincial budget, a criminal trial or a large rock inexplicably placed in a suburban parking lot. They are versatile, able to write quick hits, thorough news reports and in-depth features, all in a voice that is lively and clear. They have a feel for the Post's sensibility. They can cultivate sources, find stories buried in documents and break news on tight deadlines. They know how to drive a story forward or find a unique way into it. They understand that sometimes the best way to tell a story is through a video, graphic or interactive, and they are excited to be part of a digital newsroom.
