Salary: $30,000 to $50,000
This is an exciting opportunity if you can combine solid journalistic writing skills (CP style) with editorial/content/data management on a high-intensity daily production cycle. You would work from your own home in co-operation with a team of remote colleagues with the primary task of overseeing an electronic publication produced by an established speciality publishing business. The work includes researching and writing two substantive stories per day, co-ordinating a news brief section, and assembling and managing data pages initially filling eight tabloid-sized pages. The content will relate to the architectural, engineering and construction community.
The work is home based (we operate a “virtual” business), but writer should be in Ontario.
We believe the best way to evaluate candidates is to see their work, rather than resumes. Accordingly, if you prequalify, we’ll send you instructions which include suggesting three possible story ideas for the publication. If these are suitable, we’ll invite you to turn one or two of them into freelance article contributions, for which we will pay a modest fee ($25 to $50) if we publish the material and don’t hire you. The best writing/submissions for the freelance assignment will likely lead to a full time job offer.)
Please provide a couple of samples of your work with your resume and cover letter - stating you found this job on Jeff Gaulin's Journalism Job Board - and send to:
