Editor of Canadian Investment Review and CIIN Financial Database Manager TC Media is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to oversee the editorial leadership and direction of the Canadian Investment Review brand and the Canadian Institutional Investment Network (CIIN) database.
 
Canadian Investment Review is an academic based website and conference brand that serves the Canadian Institutional investment community. Each year, Canadian Investment Review hosts three of Canada’s premier institutional investment conferences for senior DB pension plan decision-makers; The Global Investment Conference, The Risk Management Conference and The Investment Innovations Conference, as well as the DB Investment Forum in Toronto and Montreal. The CIIN database is Canada’s leading institutional lead generation tool for accessing the contact information and data statistics from Canadian DC and DB pension funds, as well as foundations & endowment funds.
 
The editor of Canadian Investment Review will lead the conference content including developing themes, agendas and selecting speakers. The editor will work with conference sponsors and the advisory board to review and provide feedback on all conference presentations. This person will create and moderate ice breakers, panel discussions and workshops at all CIR conferences. She or he will also work strategically with the CIR advisory board and manage the relationships with academic partners.
 
For the CIR website, the editor will source, edit, write and post all content and produce and oversee distribution of two e-newsletters per week. This individual will also write all conference output, moderate and write question guides for roundtables, and assist in crafting research questions for TC Media’s CIIN database. This individual will also lead the management of the CIIN database. He or she will need to lead the analysts, internal and external developers and sales, as well as develop resources to ensure overall data integrity. External clients will need to be managed to ensure their expectations are met regarding database functionality. This individual will oversee subscription sales as well as client sponsored projects including research and custom publishing.
 
Daily responsibilities will include evaluating business needs, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement and implementing solutions and trouble-shooting technical issues related to a database. This position requires strong aptitude for data work, analytical and problem-solving skills in rapidly changing environment as well as business development.

Qualifications

  • Degree in business, economics, finance, journalism, database management or computer science
  • 4 years in database management, finance or research analysis in a business environment
  • 1 year management experience/leadership position
  • Advanced excel skills to evaluate large data sets efficiently through use of pivot tables
  • Strong communication skills are essential for presenting/moderating to clients
  • Excellent organization and project management skills
  • Experience in database marketing would be an asset
  • Must have a passion for investments
  • Must have the ability to travel to conferences across North America
