Clipper Publishing is looking for an experienced journalist/editor to lead a team of five contributing writers at our two community newspapers, The Clipper Weekly and the Lac du Bonnet Clipper.
Clipper Publishing covers the North Eastman region of Manitoba, where the Prairies meet the Canadian Shield and cottage country. Perennial award-winners, Clipper newspapers have a readership of 80 per cent (the highest in the province).
The editor must be adept at editing, photography and page layout as well as be able to contribute some copy as required. You must have a strong news sense and the ability to work well with others to meet deadlines, organize coverage and generate stories. Creative time management is required as after-hours work will be necessary from time to time.
Ideally, you will have print training in the news industry, a journalism degree/diploma or equivalent experience – eg: three to five years as a reporter and/or editor.
Knowledge of Canadian Press style, InDesign and Photoshop are essential.
The successful candidate must be able to work independently and in conjunction with the Editor In Chief.
