Enjoy living near the ocean and mountains in a community with a variety of outdoor activities while working in a newsroom where teamwork is emphasized. Vista Radio’s 89.7 Sun FM, in Duncan, British Columbia, is seeking a dynamic news presenter and reporter to anchor our morning newscasts on Vancouver Island.
You have a confident and conversational style, a firm understanding of how to write broadcast news, can work with minimal supervision, and have experience reporting and making editorial decisions. You will be covering local politics, critical incidents, events, and issues affecting the community and the people of a mid-sized community. Your duties will include presenting newscasts from 6am to noon, sourcing, researching and writing local stories for both broadcast and websites, and being able to take part in community activities as an ambassador of the station.
The ideal candidate has a post-secondary degree in journalism or holds a university degree plus a diploma from an accredited broadcast journalism program. Two or more years of experience in a newsroom. A strong desire to learn and improve your professional skills Have a working familiarity with our news software: KLZ Newsroom, Adobe Audition. And you must have a valid driver’s license.
Our ideal candidate is comfortable writing online and radio news, recording news casts and becoming a member of the community.

- Solid on-air delivery skills with a desire to learn and improve
- Experience working in a newsroom or equivalent journalism background is an asset

- Meet daily deadlines
- Working familiarity with Adobe Audition, Newsroom, and on-air software
