I'm a Canadian freelance journalist with a broad range of media experiences including opinion pieces published on CBC Manitoba, a stint as a news reporter with The Uniter community newspaper (Winnipeg, MB), several years' experience as a volunteer community radio journalist with CKUW 95.9 FM, and gigs reporting for The Green Planet Monitor, an environmental website run by David Kattenburg.
I have interviewed David Suzuki, John Ralston Saul, John Taylor Gatto, and Norman Nawrocki, amongst other guests.
I have produced my own finished radio pieces, and co-produced an award-winning narrationless radio documentary about homelessness in Winnipeg. My investigative piece, Where Have All the Benches Gone?, which was responsible for bringing benches back to Winnipeg's Exchange District, won an award from Mouseland Press.
Currently I am seeking opportunities for freelance video journalism, especially reporting, in a range of areas including politics, news, political & news commentary, immigration, disability, health(care), social welfare, welfare, history, community events, charities, healthcare, food & beverage, apparel, and sports. I am not interested in crime, violence or war reporting.
I prefer stories that involve video, audio and new media rather than tight-deadline written journalism.
